We were resting in a village after a close fight with the Burmese army. There were 13 of us that fought against a company of the Burmese army (Jan 3rd, 1991). The fight lasted about 2 hours. It was a very close fight in a village (within 30 yards). We lost our platoon commander Ko Ko Oo, a native of Ye town. He was a 3rd year university student. Than Bo and Kyaw Soe Lay also gave up their lives for freedom. Kyaw Soe Lay was still a teenager. Zaw Tu, Soe Naing, Wai Moe, Myint Aung and myself were wounded. The Burmese army ransacked the village after the fight as punishment to the villagers. A bullet narrowly missed me and hit my M16. The black fiberglass barrel guard was blown off. You can see that I used plastic IV line to tied it back together.
Your blog is fascinating. Are you still in Burma?
